Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha enters its Silver Jubilee year

Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) on Saturday entered its Silver Jubilee year as the first sitting of the House was held 24 years ago on December 14.

A series of events will be organised throughout the year to mark the occasion, Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr Raman Singh said today at the customary press conference before the winter session that starts on Monday. During the session, four sittings will be organised to transact the official businesses that include the second supplementary budget for the financial year 2024-25.

The function to mark the Silver Jubilee year will start from Monday with the traditional welcome to the Legislative Assembly members coming to attend the session. A photo exhibition will be organised in the Assembly library portraying the journey of Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha in photographs.

Dr Singh released the “Logo” of the Silver Jubilee Year of the Legislative Assembly. He also released a video featuring the Silver Jubilee Year, which depicts the parliamentary journey of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly from its inception till now. It has been uploaded on the Vidhan Sabha website, so that the general public can also see it on the website.

Vidhan Sabha Secretary Dinesh Sharma, senior officers and employees of the Legislative Assembly Secretariat and media representatives were also present.

The Assembly Speaker said President Droupadi Murmu would be invited during the budget session as part of the celebration. A series of workshops and lectures would also mark the occasion.

Dr Singh said the Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha would shift to the new premises coming up in Naya Raipur during the Silver Jubilee year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be invited to inaugurate the new building of Vidhan Sabha, he added.
