Aimed to get Chhattisgarh’s unique culinary tradition of Borey Baasi a world-wide recognition and put it in the international platter, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has appealed to all the Chhattisgarhi residents to taste the food on the occasion of Labour Day.
Borey Baasi is a staple breakfast taken by the labourers, farmers and the common populace because of its high nutritional content and pro health properties. Borey Basi is made by soaking leftover rice in water; keeping it overnight.
In the morning, it is eaten with tomato chutney or pickle and raw onion after adding salt according to taste. People of Chhattisgarh usually eat this breakfast in the morning. Eating Baasi not only provides relief from heat but also keeps blood pressure under control and also prevents dehydration during summer.
On the appeal of the Chief Minister, Chhattisgarh’s MPs, MLAs, public representatives and young generation have come forward to taste the food and post pictures-videos on social media, along with the hashtag #LabourDay2022 #BoreyBaasi and #cgmodel.
The Chhattisgarh Hotel and Restaurant Association has written a letter to the Chief Minister, congratulating him for the initiative. They have also pledged that on May 1, which marks Labour Day, Borey Baasi will be served to the workforce deployed in the establishment and their relatives.
