The State of Chhattisgarh has been honoured at the national level by the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, New Delhi for its remarkable work under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Trust.
During the one-day “National DMF Workshop” organized at the SCOPE Convention Center in New Delhi today, Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy honoured the Secretary to the Chief Minister and Mineral Secretary of Chhattisgarh P Dayanand by giving a citation.
The Ministry of Mines, New Delhi is maintaining the database related to DMF of all the states in the National DMF Portal through the Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana. The State of Chhattisgarh was awarded the citation for complete uploading of a 90 percent database of DMF audit reports in the State DMF Portal and National DMF Portal. In the workshop, the efforts of Chhattisgarh were presented as a model state and other states were also advised to emulate data uploading, transparency and ground implementation.
It is worth mentioning that the National DMF Workshop was organized with the aim of increasing the effectiveness of Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana and DMF and promoting sustainable and inclusive development in mining areas. Secretaries, directors and collectors of mining affected districts from different states of the country participated in the programme.
It is worth mentioning that the Chhattisgarh government is continuously working for inclusive development in various sectors like education, health, drinking water, infrastructure and livelihood in mining affected areas through DMF. So far, 1,01,313 development works have been approved in the state at a cost of Rs 16,506 crore, out of which 70,318 works have been successfully completed.
Adopting a transparent and public welfare approach in the implementation of DMF funds by the state government, planning and monitoring of works in accordance with local needs is being ensured in each district. This policy targets not only physical development but also social empowerment.
On behalf of Chhattisgarh, Secretary, Mineral Resources Department, P Dayanand, Director, Rajat Bansal along with the Collectors of Balod, Balodabazar-Bhatapara, Korba, Raigarh and Dantewada districts and Nodal Officer of DMF were present in the workshop.
