The fifth 400 kV (kilovolt) power sub-station of Chhattisgarh will be set up at Kunkuri in Jashpur district.
The double-circuit 400 kV power transmission line is one of the most powerful electrical installations in the entire power system; at a frequency of 50 Hz, it generates an intense magnetic field.
The development came at the initiative of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, who also represent the constituency in the state assembly. Jashpur Collector Dr Ravi Mittal has allotted 18.20 acres of land in Harradand of Kunkuri block to the Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL) to establish the sub-station, a state government spokesperson said.
Divisional Engineer of CSPDCL N R Bhagat informed that with the construction of power sub-station, there will be a radical improvement in the power supply system in the district. He said that at present, the power supply in through the 132 kV line from the sub-station located in Bilaspur. Due to the long distance, technical problems have been disrupting the supply besides low voltage issue.
The sub-station will also facilitate smooth power supply to the neighboring state of Jharkhand. The officials said with the construction of a sub-station in the district, the quality of the transmission line going to Jharkhand will improve.
The Chhattisgarh government led by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai is working rapidly to improve the basic facilities of water, electricity, health, education and road in the district. In the last 8 months, with the initiative of the Chief Minister, along with the approval of a 220-bed fully equipped hospital in the district, the district has got 7 specialist doctors. Along with this, the Central Government has approved Rs 10 crore to bring the Agricultural Research Center and Mayali Nature Camp in Kunkuri on the tourism map of the country.
Besides, 176 new additional transformers have installed in the district to improve the power system. The district administration is working rapidly on the instructions of the Chief Minister to improve the power distribution system in the tribal-dominated Jashpur district.
Bhagat said that the district has received approval for additional 274 transformers to improve the power system in the district. Out of these, 176 transformers have been installed. To keep the power system smooth, emphasis is being laid on the maintenance of lines and transformers. In case of faults due to bad weather and other reasons, the electricity workers immediately take initiative to improve it. For this, the officers and employees of the department have been kept on alert. Along with this, the number of employees is also being increased so that the power supply of the district can be supplied smoothly.
