Chhattisgarh’s Hardibhata Gram Panchayat receives National Award

Hardibhata Gram Panchayat of Dhamtari district in Chhattisgarh has achieved a major feat at the national level as it has been awarded the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sustainable Development Award-2024 by the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

Munen Kumar, Sarpanch of Hardibhata, received the award from President Smt. Droupadi Murmu at the National Panchayat Awards – 2024 ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. With the aim of promoting healthy competition among the panchayats, awards are given every year in various categories by the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj. This year these awards were given to a total of 45 panchayats and institutions of 15 states.

Under this, 27 panchayats have received the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sustainable Development Award. The awards are given under a total of 9 categories, which include poverty free and improved livelihood panchayat, healthy panchayat, child friendly panchayat, water sufficient panchayat, clean and green panchayat, self-reliant infrastructure panchayat, socially just and socially protected panchayat, good governance panchayat and women friendly panchayat.

Gram Panchayat Hardibhata has been awarded in the category of socially just and socially protected panchayat. The Gram Panchayat was also given a prize money of Rs 50 lakh.
