Raipur, April 11
Now is the time to give up arms and become self-reliant and self-sufficient by getting training in the pen, farming and employment business of their interest. The Chhattisgarh government is ready to support at every step.
The Chhattisgarh government has made the arrangement for the surrendered Maoists in its new Surrender Policy 2025. The new policy has been made to root out the problem of Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) from the state and to bring back the misguided youth to the mainstream of society, so that they can live a respectable life in the society. In fact, good provisions have been made for those who surrender under the new policy made for the rehabilitation of Maoists.
The Chhattisgarh Maoist Surrender, Victim Relief and Rehabilitation Policy 2025 implemented by the government of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai not only gives security to the surrendered rebels but also guarantees them rehabilitation, employment, and a respectable life.
Through this policy, the state government has made it clear that the door for the youth, who are on the path of violence, is now completely open to return to the mainstream of society and that too with respect and trust. Sai himself has appealed that the state government will fully support the youth who want to shun violence and return to the path of development and peace.
Under the new policy, those who surrender will be kept in transit camps or rehabilitation centers, where they will be trained in some skill according to their interest. Not only this, an honorarium of Rs 10,000 will also be given every month for three years. Plots in urban areas for housing, agricultural land in rural areas, schemes for self-employment and joining business will also be available to them. The most important thing is that after surrender, the entire process of rehabilitation will be completed within 120 days, so that they can return to the mainstream of society as soon as possible.
This policy will not apply only to Maoists active in Chhattisgarh, but will also provide a golden opportunity for rebels active in other states, provided they obtain certification and no objection under the prescribed procedure.
While the initiative of the government can prove to be a milestone towards restoring lasting peace in the state, on the other hand it also gives the message that nothing is achieved through violence – the path to building the future now passes through development, education and respectable life.
Each case of surrender will be regularly reviewed by committees formed at the state and district level, to ensure that the beneficiary is actually playing a positive role in the society.
