Ramesh Nayyar, Chhattisgarh’s most acknowledged and admired journalist, breathed his last in Raipur today afternoon.
In a journalism career spanning over six decades, Ramesh Nayyar had worked with many national and local dailies. He had equal command over Hindi, English and Urdu.
Born on February 10, 1940 in Kunjam (now in Pakistan near Lahore), Ramesh Nayyar started his journalism career in 1965. He worked for Yugdharma, Deshbandhu, The Hitavada, MP Chronicle besides national daily Tribune.
He also edited Dainik Lokswar, Sunday Observer (Hindi) and Dainik Bhaskar. Ramesh Nayyar was a similar face in Doordarshan and other TV Broadcasts in the talks, interviews and discussions. He had edited four books and translated seven books in English, Urdu and Punjabi into Hindi.
The news of his demise stunned the entire state other than the journalist fraternity. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has expressed deep grief and condolences.
