Chhattisgarh’s two districts figure in the list of 10 across the country that account for 45.65 per cent of the total active COVID-19 cases.
The two districts in Chhattisgarh that saw a drastic surge in the cases include Raipur and Durg. The state of Maharashtra is the worst in the list; of the 10 districts, six are from the state, according to the data released by the ministry of health and family welfare.
Pune tops the list followed by Mumbai and Thane. The other worst affected districts in Maharashtra include Nagpur, Nasik and Aurangabad. The two states, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh share 80 per cent of the top 10 affected districts. The remaining two include Delhi and Bengaluru Urban.
India’s total active caseload has reached 10,46,631. It now comprises 7.93 per cent of the country’s total Positive Cases. A net incline of 67,023 cases recorded from the total active caseload in the last 24 hours.
The five states of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala cumulatively account for 72.23 per cent of India’s total active cases. Maharashtra alone accounts for 51.23 per cent of the total active caseload of the country followed by Chhattisgarh’s 7.34 per cent.
The daily deaths due to COVID-19 continue to show an upward trend with 794 deaths reported in the last 24 hours across the country. In all, 10 states account for 86.78 per cent of the new deaths. Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties with 301 deaths followed by Chhattisgarh where 91 people died of the novel Coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
