Chairman of Coal India Limited (CIL) Pramod Agrawal today visited the mega mines of the South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) and took stock of the production.
This is the second visit of the CIL Chairman to SECL, the highest coal producing arm of the CIL till last year, over a period of three months. Agrawal had last visited on April 30 and held a review meeting to accelerate the output.
CIL’s another entity Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has succeeded SECL to achieve the top spot in the financial year 2021-22.
Agrawal today visited the two mega mines, Gevra and Dipka that accounts for a major share of SECL’s output. SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Dr Prem Sagar Mishra along with company’s Director (Technical Operations) Manoj Kumar Prasad, Director (Technical Planning Project) S K Pal, Area General Manager S K Mohanty, Ranjan Prasad Sah and other top officials accompanied the Chairman.
After discussion with the General Manager and Core Team, Agrawal visited the mines and inspected the different areas of production. He took stock of the situation and gave necessary directions to the officials. Besides reviewing the progress of overburden removal, the Chairman discussed the mine expansion plan covering the adjoining villages of Amgaon, Nairabodh, Suaondi Malgaon etc. Agrawal went to the affected villages to get the ground realities.
During the review meeting, the Chairman directed to supply coal to the power sector on priority basis. He also inquired about the supply being made to the Sipat plant of the NTPC plant.
The Chairman said the mega projects were not only significant for the CIL but also for the nation. “Following the soaring price in the international market, it is our responsibility to enhance coal production and strengthen the country’s economy,” he added.
