The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) today marked its 53rd Raising Day.

The main function was held at the CISF headquarters in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was the Chief Guest at the function.

The Central Industrial Security Force came into existence in 1969 to provide integrated security cover to certain sensitive public sector undertakings with a strength of only three battalions. The force has since grown into a premier multi-skilled organization with a present strength of 1,63,590 personnel. The CISF at present provides security cover to 353 establishments through the length and breadth of the country

In his keynote address after inspecting the parade, the union home minister said: “During the pandemic when Indians were coming back from abroad, CISF personnel took risks in taking care of fellow Indians and even lost their lives. They’ve been taking care of returning citizens from Ukraine under Operation Ganga too.”

“Today, we are playing an important role in the development of the country, by being at the forefront of security at the space and atomic energy centers, ports, airports, and metro rails,” Director General of CISF Sheel Vardhan Singh said.
