The Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), Bhola Singh met the top officials of the Madhya Pradesh government aimed to apprise about the projects and expedite the future plan.
Singh had a courtesy meeting with Iqbal Singh Bains, Chief Secretary, Government of Madhya Pradesh, in Bhopal on Friday. During the meeting, CMD NCL apprised the Chief Secretary of the state about the company’s coal production, dispatch, and operations.
CMD NCL had a positive discussion with the Chief Secretary over the establishment of a Mining College in the Singrauli region and ensuring state of art health, education, employment facilities in the Singrauli district. During the meeting, He also apprised NCL’s CSR Initiatives for the social upliftment of the people in Singrauli.
Singh later met the Director General of of Madhya Pradesh Police Vivek Johri and apprised him about the role of NCL in the energy security of the nation.
In a series of meetings, CMD also met State Mining Secretary Sukhveer Singh and discussed NCL’s mining activity in the region along with the company’s Sustainable development initiative like making Sand from Overburden. The move was appreciated by the Mining Secretary.
He also paid visits to the MP Government’s Revenue Secretary, Environment Secretary, Forest Secretary, and Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board and had a fruitful discussion over an array of issues. The officials extended their support for redressal.
NCL, a coal mining giant along with coal production, is committed to sustainable mining & Environmental protection in the Singrauli region. With varied pro-environmental initiatives, vis-a-vis First Mile Connectivity Projects, Green Transportation using MGR and BPC, Massive Plantation, NCL is also working on separate coal corridor and robust road network for the local people. In FY 2020-21 the company has contributed a sum of Rs 8756 crore to the MP Government towards Royalty, MMDR Fund, and other Cess and Taxes.
NCL produces coal from 10 Open Cast Coal Mines in Singrauli and Sonbhadra districts, out of which 6 Mines are located in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh State which contributes to 75% of the company’s coal production.
Soon after taking over as the NCL CMD, Singh set the momentum to expedite the process of Forest and Environmental Clearances for surging the dry fuel output. The CMD of Singrauli-based arm of state-run Coal India Limited (CIL) has asked the officials to follow up the clearances and complete the process to produce 8 MT Coal from the Block-B in next financial year in wake of growing energy demand of the Nation.
