Bijay Kumar Nayak, Moderator of the Church of North India, launched a series of development works in the Chhattisgarh capital on Wednesday.
Bishop the Right of Chhattisgarh Diocese Ajay Umesh James, Synod Treasurer Subrata Gorai, Diocese Secretary Nitin Lawrence, Vice President K M Barman and Treasurer Ajay John and Executive Members Prem Masih, Ex MD UCNIT Pune, Sanjay Singh, MD UCNITA Mumbai, Bishop Manoj Charan of Bhopal Diocese, Srinivas S Kolhapur (Diocese’s Commissary) were present on the occasion. S. Gemal (Chandigarh), Dr. Lal Bahadur Kamble (Nashik), Rakesh Chhatri Lucknow also participated in the events.
The guests and religious leaders were accorded a traditional welcome with the folk culture of Chhattisgarh. The function was conducted by Ruchi Dharamraj. Diocese office staff, priests from all over the state, office bearers of churches, office bearers of Mahila Sabha, Sunday School and Youth Sabha, principal Mrs. Manisha Kuldeep and Anvita Lal also participated.
Spokesperson John Rajesh Paul informed that the Moderator inaugurated St. Jacob’s Church Jora, Parsonage and Church Tower, Bishop’s House Chapel, St. Paul’s Cathedral and laid the foundation stone of Parsonage and Marriage Hall. He also graced the Church Ground Breaking Ceremony besides inaugurating Salem English School Hall, Diocese of Chhattisgarh Conference Hall and Charitable Medical Dispensary.
The moderator also interacted with pastors, secretaries, treasurers and church leaders.
On Thursday, the office bearers of the Diocese also visited Bilaspur. Local legislator Shailesh Pandey also attended the program in Bilaspur along with Bishop James. He announced to give Rs 5 lakh for the development work. Bishop did the groundbreaking for an extension to the Burgess English School building.
He inaugurated the renovated parsonage, new guest room and new library of St. Augustine’s Church. Diocese Secretary Nitin Lawrence, Vice President K M Burman and Treasurer Ajay John, Anil Chauhan, Shailesh Luke Salomon, DEC member Jaideep S. Robinson, Sylvia Soy and Smita Bakhsh and Manashish Keju, Church Secretary Rashmi James, F Austin, Principal Nishita Hansa Das, Pastors, office bearers of churches etc were present.
Mementos were presented to guests at the events held at Burgess English School and Church.
