Raipur, June 24
Chairman of Coal India Limited (CIL) Pramod Agrawal (I.A.S.) visited the projects of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) and inaugurated Rail Rapid Load Out System (RRLOS) in Gevra area under FMC (First Mile Connectivity), Workshop Complex in Kusmunda Area, and Baroud siding in Raigarh area through video conferencing today.
SECL CMD Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra, Director Technical (Operations) S.K. Pal, Director (Finance) G. Srinivasan, Director Technical (P&P) S.N. Kapri, Director (Personnel) Debasish Acharyya, AGM Kusmunda Sanjay Mishra, AGM Gevra S K Mohanty, and AGM Raigarh H S Pande were present on the occasion.
The projects inaugurated by CIL Chairman will accelerate coal production and dispatch in these areas of SECL and will play an important role in expansion of coal production of the company.
Kusmunda Opencast Project has the capacity of 50 million tonnes per annum, for which SECL is procuring more than 400 HEMMs (Heavy Earth Moving Machinery) which includes a total of 261 dumpers with capacity ranging from 60 tonnes to 240 tonnes. Keeping this and proximity to the mega projects of SECL in mind, a main workshop has been set up for repair and maintenance requirements of HEMM machines. The project also includes sub-systems like Dumper Washing System, Bay Lubrication System, Compressed Air System, EOT Crane, Power Supply, Indoor & Outdoor Lighting, Communication, Ventilation, Fire Fighting etc.
The total cost of this project, which started in 2020, is Rs 248 crore, and it is spread over a total area of 16 hectares. The workshop has provision for various facilities for HEMM machinery like Excavation Complex, E&M Complex, Store Complex, Substation, Pumphouse, Administrative Office, Canteen, First Aid Center etc.
The total cost of the Gevra Rapid Loading System (RLS) project, built under FMC (First Mile Connectivity), is Rs 222 crore. With the help of this rapid loading system, 20 million tonnes of coal will be dispatched every year. In the Rapid Loading System, where a truck receiving station with 8 hoppers has been built, the capacity of the bunker built in the project is about 30,000 tonnes. From this bunker, 4,500 – 5,500 tonnes of coal can be loaded into rail rakes per hour.
On the other hand, if we talk about Baroud siding, the capacity of siding will be 20,000 tonnes per day, which means that about 4 rakes of coal can be sent daily from here and it is connected to Kharsia main line through Baroud-Korichhapar siding.
Along with this, under the ambitious First Mile Connectivity Project of SECL, CHP (Coal Handling Plant) of 10 million tonnes per annum capacity is also being constructed at Baroud from where about 6 rakes of coal can be dispatched daily. The commencement of Baraud siding is expected to be very important from the development point of view of Mand-Raigarh Coalfield.
After the day’s program, a review meeting-cum- felicitation ceremony was organized at SECL HQ Bilaspur in the late evening, in which SECL top management as well as AGMs of various areas were present. Various issues related to production and productivity were discussed in the meeting and necessary instructions were given.
Agrawal is going to retire this month after a glorious tenure of more than three decades in the Indian Administrative Service and Coal Industry. On this occasion, Shri Pramod Agarwal, Chairman, Coal India was felicitated by Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra, SECL CMD at SECL Bilaspur in the presence of SECL Functional Directors and Area General Managers by giving shawl, shreefal and a memento.
