The production of state-owned Coal India rose by 3.3 per cent to 60.2 million tonne (MT) in December compared to 58.3 MT in the same month a year ago.
The company’s output in the April-December period also increased to 413.6 MT from over 392.8 MT in the year-ago period, the company said in a regulatory filing today. The surge in production is 5.3 per cent at the end of the third quarter of the current financial year 2021-22.
The offtake of Coal India increased by 15.7 per cent to 60.7 MT in December compared to 52.5 MT recorded in the corresponding period of last fiscal. The cumulative offtake till December surged by 17.6 per cent.
Coal India accounts for over 80 per cent of domestic coal output. The company is eyeing one billion tonnes of production by 2023-24.
