The Coal India Limited (CIL) is organising a two-day workshop starting today on the working of mine, developer and operator (MDO) model in the mining sector.

Pramod Agrawal, Chairman CIL inaugurated the two-day workshop virtually. B Veera Reddy Director (Technical) of the CIL also addressed the gathering virtually.

The workshop is being cohosted by CCL and CMPDI . P M Prasad, CMD CCL and Manoj Kumar CMD, CMPDI were also present on the occasion. R B Prasad, Director Technical (Op), CCL along with P K Mishra Director (Finance), CCL, S K Sinha, CVO CCL, A K Rana, Executive Director CMPDI, Anandji Prasad, Project advisor MoC and large number of CCL employees were present on the occasion.

The two days workshop will witness about 100 delegates from different subsidiaries of CIL and other industries brainstorm and share their opinion on the various facets of the topic.

Speaking on the occasion , Agrawal congratulated CCL for organising the workshop. He stated that the topic is extremely close to his heart and he looks forward to fruitful deliberation on the topic.

Director (Technical), CIL B Veera Reddy stated that workshop provides a common forum to the delegates to come together and brainstorm on different facets of the topic.

CMD, CCL P M Prasad welcomed the participants and expressed confidence that the workshop will be a great learning experience for everyone.

In the MDO mode, the contractor carries out the entire spectrum of activities right from obtaining the Environmental Clearance & Forest Clearance, R&R activities, obtaining applicable permits, licenses etc., developing projects (including detailed designing, financing, mine construction, procurement of mining and other equipment), operate and maintain Mine for excavation/extraction and delivery of coal in accordance with Annual Production Program etc.

Six MDO projects which will cumulatively produce 95 MT per annum coal have been awarded by CIL. Central Coalfields Limited is at the forefront with three of them being in the company.

General Manager CMC, R R Srivastava along with others played a vital role in success of the workshop.
