Coal India’s February production up by 4%

Coal India Limited (CIL) has registered a growth of 3.9 per cent in the coal production during the month of February compared to previous year’s corresponding period.

The state-run miner has produced 64.3 million tonnes (MT) of coal last month compared to previous year’s 61.9 MT. The cumulative production for the April-February period of the financial year 2021-22 was pegged at 542.4 MT as against last year’s 515.1 MT; registering a growth of 5.3 per cent.

The Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) was on top spot among all entities of the CIL as far as volume was concerned. The Sambalpur-headquartered company produced 16.1 MT of coal followed by 15.2 MT of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) and 11.5 MT of Singrauli-based Norther Coalfields Limited (NCL).

With the demand of dry fuel increasing, the largest coal producing company has registered an increase of 16.6 per cent in the cumulative offtake. As against 514.4 MT, the company has supplied 599.9 MT during the period April-February period. The offtake increased by 12 per cent at 57.4 MT in the month of February.
