“Now that we broke the growth jinx in output and off-take, which were weighed down by the pandemic induced slowdown, we expect to better our performance in the ensuing months. We aim to reclaim as much of the lost ground as possible during the rest of the fiscal” said a senior official of the company, adding generally performance in the second half of the financial year is higher in terms of production and supplies.

CIL’s coal off-take saw a sizable jump of 11.2 MT during the referred month. CIL supplied 46.46 MT in September 20 against 35.28 MT in the same month last year logging a growth of 31.7 per cent. MCL again registered the highest growth among the subsidiaries with 63 per cent followed by WCL 60.2 per cent and CCL 31.5 per cent.

Coal dispatch of 36.42 MT to the power sector during the month witnessed a growth of 24.7 per cent compared to 29.20 MT as of September 19, the increase in absolute terms being 7.2 MT.

CIL on an average loaded a total of 241.2 rakes per day in September 20 against 162.2 rakes in the same month last year recording an increase of 79 rakes per day with a growth of around 49 per cent.

“Despite COVID-19 related challenges and inclement monsoon, our production increased by 11 MTs and off-take by 12 MT during the second quarter of the present fiscal” the official said.
