Coal India’s training arm conducts capacity building programme

Indian Institute of Coal Management (IICM), the corporate training center of Coal India Limited (CIL), organized a three-day Capacity Building Program on IT initiatives from August 22-24, 2024.

The program was conducted as part of a three-month campaign advised by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).

Brajesh Kumar Tripathy, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of CIL, addressed over 250 executives of CIL, including young management trainees from the ongoing Management Skills Development Program (MSDP), participants of the IT initiatives program, and IICM faculty members. Dr. Kamakshi Raman, Executive Director of IICM, welcomed the CVO.

In his impactful two-hour address, Tripathy emphasized the role of a vigilant executive within Coal India. He cited various examples and drew important linkages from scriptures, underscoring the need to transform Coal India from a rule-based company to a value-based company. He also highlighted key points related to preventive vigialnce, ethical governance etc. His speech was both inspiring and motivational, encouraging every executive to see themselves as part of the vigilance framework. He stressed that vigilance is essential for the overall progress of the company.

Dr. Kamakshi Raman, Executive Director of IICM, welcomed Dr. B. Veera Reddy, Director (Technical), Coal India Limited, and Brajesh Kumar Tripathy, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), CIL. On this occasion, Dr. Reddy and Tripathy administered Integrity Pledge to all present there in English and Hindi respectively.

In his address, Tripathy emphasized the crucial role of vigilance within Coal India, highlighting key aspects of preventive vigilance and ethical governance. He urged the participants to be proactive in ensuring transparency and accountability in their respective roles.

Dr. B. Veera Reddy, in his address, discussed CIL’s ambitious production targets, multifaceted growth strategies, and plans for diversification. He stressed that hard work and adherence to rules and guidelines are essential for success. Dr. Reddy motivated the participants to perform their duties more effectively and efficiently, emphasizing the importance of dedication and commitment in achieving the organization’s objectives.
