Coal ministry extends bidding date for mine auction

The Ministry of Coal today issued a notice regarding revision in Timeline of Auction (12th Tranche of Auction under the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Act 2015) ( 2nd Tranche of Auction under the Mines and Mineral ( Development and Regulations) Act 1957).  

In a statement issued, it stated that in continuation to the Notice Inviting Tender dated March 25, 2021, the last date for registration of bidder and sale of tender documents on MSTC website, and the Bid Due Date have been revised.

The Bid due date has been extended to Thursday, July 08, 2021. The revised timeline shall be uploaded on the MSTC website. 

In March, India launched the second tranche of auction for commercial coal mining, offering 67 mines for sale.

Out of the total 67 mines offered by the ministry, 23 are under Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Act and 44 under Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act.

The blocks on offer are a mix of mines with small and large reserves, coking and non-coking mines and fully and partially explored blocks spread across six states – Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

As on May 18, 50 mine specific tender documents had been purchased by the bidders for the second tranche of commercial coal mines’ auction.

“The response to this auction tranche, till now, has been tremendous,” the coal ministry statement said. Many other prospective bidders are in the process of registration and purchase of tender documents from the auction portal, it added.
