The Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Prem Nagar constituency, Bhulan Singh Maravi performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the construction of a culvert on Garjan Nala in Janardanpur Gram Panchayat of Surajpur district.

The culvert, to be built at a total cost of Rs 15.63 lakh, is being constructed by Adani Foundation under the social participation of Rajasthan State Electricity Generation Corporation Limited (RRVUNL) that owns Parsa East Kete Basan (PEKB) coal mine. The project will provide great convenience in transportation to the villagers of Janardanpur and Mendra and better connectivity will be established with Prem Nagar block.

The chief guest of the program, Bhulan Singh Maravi started the construction work by performing Bhoomi Pujan. On the occasion, MLA representative Sant Sahu, District President Phuleshwar Singh, District Panchayat member Nayan Sirdar, Mandal President Mithila Banjara, Mandal General Secretary Vijay Sirdar, Yuva Morcha Mandal General Secretary Mahendra Pratap Yadav, Mendra Sarpanch Saroj Uike, Janardanpur Sarpanch Vijay Singh, Tara Sarpanch Sampatiya Devi and a large number of villagers were present.

On this occasion, Maravi said, “Today I have performed Bhoomi Pujan for the construction of a bridge over Garjan Nala in Janardanpur Gram Panchayat. It is being constructed by Adani Foundation with the CSR initiative of RRVUNL. Earlier, the villagers had to face a lot of problems and troubles in commuting, especially during the rainy season, their vehicles used to get stuck. The vehicle of one of my acquaintances has also got stuck in the drain. Certainly, the construction of this bridge will provide connectivity to the entire surrounding area including the villagers.”

After the Bhoomi Pujan, the MLA inspected the PEKB mine. He planted saplings and saw and understood the responsible mining processes being carried out by the Adani Group. He also took information about the 15 lakh trees planted in the forest being restored after mining and also saw the entire work closely. He appreciated the environmental activities being carried out by the group.

Maravi mentioned the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign being run by the Prime Minister and advocated everyone to join this campaign. He said, “Today I came to PEKB mine. I planted saplings in the plantation area here and also inspected more than 15 lakh saplings planted by the mine so far. There are more than 6 lakh saplings in their nursery. Their work is commendable. Regenerating and planting a plant like ‘Sal’ here is a difficult task and this is the first time I have seen that a mine is working with such responsibility towards the environment. I am very happy to see that they have planted almost all the wild species of plants here which are now taking the form of a dense forest. The work being done by the mine towards saving the environment is praiseworthy and exemplary.”

In the series of infrastructural development in the area by RRVUNL, keeping in mind the major needs of 14 villages near the mine, the works include repair and painting of government schools, construction of additional classrooms and concrete toilets, construction of roads in the village and repair and beautification of passenger waiting rooms etc. Also, to promote environmental sustainability, more than 15 lakh trees have been planted in more than 450 hectares of mined land. This makes it clear that along with regional development, PEKB mine is also making serious efforts towards environmental protection, so that the coming generations can get a clean and green future.
