In a major push to coal evacuation from Mand-Raigarh Coalfields, first rake of dry fuel has been loaded from Gharghoda freight terminal of Chhattisgarh East Rail Limited (CERL) on Monday.
The rake was despatched to Marwa Power House of Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL).
The Chhattisgarh East Railway Limited (CERL) is a subsidiary of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a Mini Ratna Company under the Coal India Limited (CIL). The project has approximate length of 130 kms of route length i.e main line from Kharsia to Dharamjaygarh, 3-feeder line and spur line from Gharghoda to Donga Mauha, thereby connecting mines of Gare-Pelma block.
Kharsia to Dharamjaigarh main line (74 Km) of the project has already been commissioned and remaining is targeted to be commissioned by September 30, 2022.
The coal rake loading facility from Gharghoda freight terminal will generate loading capacity of about 3 rakes per day.
CERL is being developed as Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) under PPP Model targeting coal evacuation from Mand-Raigarh Coalfields of SECL with a capital outlay of around Rs 3055 crore.
In October 2019, operation of goods train was started between Kharsia and Korichappar line of the corridor.
