Workers of ruling Congress clashed with the BJP activists in Chhattisgarh’s Jagdalpur city while the former was staging a protest against the price hike.
A large number of Congress workers today marched out a rally in Jagdalpur, about 350 km from the state capital, and reached the office of BJP. The workers started raising slogan against the Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue of price hike.
The BJP workers also mobilized in the office on getting information about the Congress’ agitation. The slogan competition followed as both the sides started chanting against each other.
The matter took a twist when a BJP activist reportedly tried to defame the picture of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. The Congress activities stormed into the BJP office and clashed.
As the situation went out of control, additional police force was rushed to the spot. Security personnel from three police stations reached the spot and brought the situation under the control.
The BJP leaders said that the Congress leaders had set a wrong precedent in the state’s political landscape by staging agitation outside their office. However, Congress leaders blamed the BJP workers for clashing with them as they were staging a peaceful agitation.
