The motion of thanks on Governor Ramen Deka’s address was passed with a voice vote in the House on the third day of the on-going budget session of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, on Wednesday.
During the discussion on the Governor’s address in the Chhattisgarh Assembly today, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai made scathing attack on the previous Congress government and said that the Congress syndicate had looted the people of Chhattisgarh.
He alleged that various scams including coal, liquor, DMF (District Mineral Trust) during the previous Congress government and nothing was left for corruption.
The Chief Minister said that his government has now ensured that liquor revenue is used for public welfare purposes. He also alleged that the Rajiv Mitan Yojana funds were only visible during Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s events during the previous Congress government.
Chief Minister also targeted the concept of two-and-a-half-year leadership during the previous Congress rule and said that it created administrative instability.
He also mentioned alleged irregularities in the State Service Exam conducted by the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission, saying that the future of the youth had been compromised.
The Chief Minister said that several people have been arrested in corruption cases and more arrests will be made in the future.
The Chief Minister said that Naxalism and corruption have been two major obstacles to Chhattisgarh’s development. He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Naxalism is now on its last legs in the state.
Referring to the recent meeting chaired by the Union Home Minister, Sai said that at one time more than 70 per cent of Naxal activities in the country were concentrated in Chhattisgarh and the reason for this was the weak will of the previous Congress government.
Describing Bastar as a paradise on earth, the Chief Minister said that basic amenities are being provided through the ‘Niyad Nellanar’ scheme and security forces camps are being opened. Where once the sound of gunfire echoed, school bells now ring, he added.
He said that the mother of notorious Naxalite leader Hidma is also now receiving health care at a government hospital. Housing has been approved for surrendered Naxalites under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
The Chief Minister cited the achievements of the Bastar Pandum and Bastar Olympics, saying they were a matter of pride for the entire state. The Bastar Pandum was inaugurated by President of India Droupadi Murmu, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah had attended the closing ceremony.
Chief Minister Sai said that it is repeatedly alleged by the opposition Congress that Bastar is being handed over to corporate houses, but this is completely baseless.
“We want to increase irrigation facilities in Bastar, promote tourism, and ensure other basic amenities. There are lot of scopes for tourism in Bastar region. Homestays are being encouraged in Bastar to provide employment to local people,” said the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister said that a large number of tourists are visiting the Tribal Museum inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This museum showcases the rich culture and history of Chhattisgarh, he added.
He alleged that the Congress party was even indulged in corruption in the name of development of the Ram Van Gaman Path.
Sai said that Chitrotpala Film City has been inaugurated to promote Chhattisgarhi films, which will provide a new platform to local artists and the film industry.
The Chief Minister said that his government is moving forward on the path of development, good governance and transparency and is committed to making Chhattisgarh free from corruption and Naxalism.
Earlier, BJP MLA Dharamjeet Singh started discussion on the motion of thanks on Governor’s address. Congress MLAs Umesh Patel, Kawasi Lakhma, Savitri Manoj Mandavi, BJP MLAs Bhawana Bohra, Neelkanth Tekam and other MLAs participated in the discussion.
Earlier, the Congress MLAs staged a walkout from the House on Wednesday as the discussion on the motion of thanks on the Governor’s Address began, saying that Chief Minister, cabinet ministers and senior officers were not present in the House.
As BJP MLA Dharamjeet Singh started discussion on the motion of thanks on the Governor’s Address, Congress MLA and former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that discussion on the motion of thanks on the Governor’s Address is being held but Chief Minister and several cabinet ministers were not present in the House and the senior officers were also not present in the officers’ gallery.
After this, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kedar Kashyap and other cabinet ministers reached the House to participate in the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the Governor’s address.
Later, the opposition Congress MLAs participated in the discussion on the motion of thanks on the Governor’s Address.
