The Congress tricolour fell off the flagpole on Tuesday morning while Party President Sonia Gandhi was unfurling it to mark the party’s 137th foundation day at AICC headquarters.
The Congress President was trying to unfurl the party flag while a Seva Dal volunteer assisted her. All of a sudden, the flag fell off the poles. Before it could come to the ground, Sonia Gandhi caught it and handed it over to the leaders accompanying her on the dais.
A woman activist rushed to the dais and took the flag and kept it on her shoulder. Later, Sonia Gandhi along with party treasurer Pawan Bansal and AICC general secretary KC Venugopal held the party tricolour in their hand and displayed it briefly before proceeding with the programme.
