Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the people of Haryana had stamped out falsehood and ensured the victory of truth, development and good governance as the BJP registered historic third consecutive victory in Haryana.
Addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters, Modi said the conduct of peaceful elections in Jammu and Kashmir was the victory of India’s Constitution and democracy. Modi launched a scathing attack on Congress and said, “For some time now, many conspiracies are being hatched against India. Many conspiracies are being hatched to weaken India’s democracy and social fabric. International conspiracies are being hatched. National parties like Congress and their allies are involved in this game. Today Haryana has given a befitting reply to every such conspiracy. Every Indian will have to take a pledge that we will not let any such conspiracy succeed. India will not deviate from the path of development.”
He added, “Whether it is the Election Commission of the country, the police, the judiciary, the Congress wants to tarnish every institution. You will remember the kind of ruckus they created before the results of the Lok Sabha elections. During the elections too, these people and their urban Naxalite allies had gone to the Supreme Court to tarnish the image of the Election Commission. Today also they have done the same. Congress has tried to mislead the people of the country. Congress always tries to question the impartiality of our institutions, tries to tarnish their reputation. This has been the habit of Congress. Congress has been doing such things shamelessly.”
“This mandate has strengthened the resolve to make India the skill capital of the world. This mandate will give new courage to make India more secure and to take even the toughest decisions. I once again assure all of you and the entire country that the coming 5 years will be of even faster development, Haryana will develop, Jammu-Kashmir will develop, India will develop and we will do it. I once again express my gratitude to the people of Haryana and Jammu-Kashmir,” Modi said.
Haryana has scripted history by giving a third consecutive term to the BJP in the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at the BJP headquarters today while congratulating party workers for the unprecedented victory. It was accompanied by a vitriolic attack on the Congress, which he called, among other things, a “parasitic party” that wins only when powered by its alliance partner.
“In J&K, its ally was saying they would face defeat because of the Congress. In Lok Sabha as well, they won most of the seats because of their alliance partners. In some states, many alliance partners suffered because of Congress. They swallow them and destroy them in the state,” PM Modi said, setting the tone for the next round of election in Maharashtra and Jharkhand — states where the Congress is fighting as part of alliances.
The BJP is set to win a historic third straight term in Haryana in an election that many expected it to lose in face of massive anti-incumbency, anger among farmers and Jats, and displeasure about the Agniveer scheme. The party is leading in 48 of the state’s 90 seats, the Congress stands at 37 – a long way from the majority mark of 46.
