As fight for the Rajya Sabha seat in Haryana heats up, Congress today evening shifted its legislators to Raipur in Chhattisgarh where the party is in power.

The Congress party has fielded Ajay Maken, who was suppose to win the seat comfortably with 31 Congress legislators in the kitty. The entry of Kartikeya, son of Haryana Jan Chetna Party leader Venod Sharma, in the fray has changed all the political equations in the state.

Congress requires 31 MLAs for a lone seat the party is contesting in the state and they have these many numbers, hence the shift of even a single lawmaker could cost party severely. The BJP appears to be all set to win one Rajya Sabha seat easily. For the second seat, the contest is likely between Ajay Maken and Independent candidate Kartikeya.

The MLAs from Haryana gathered at the residence of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in New Delhi. After the meeting MLA’s along with Deepender Singh Hooda too the bus to the airport to board a chartered flight to Raipur in Chhattisgarh.

The Congress legislators from Haryana reached Raipur in the evening and were shifted to a star hotel in the Naya Raipur. Security in and around the hotel has been beefed up.
