The protest stage by the Congress party in Kerala was against fuel price hike but it finally landed to clash with a leading film actor of the state.
The opposition party in Kerala today staged a protest against the escalating price of fuel in Ernakulam that resulted in a mega traffic blockade. A long queue of vehicles lined up for close to two hours on the Edappally-Vytilla highway.
Meanwhile, Actor Joju George was passing by the protest site. He reportedly questioned the Congress workers for the hardship it was causing to the common people. The Actor’s view was responded furiously by the Congress workers who smashed the window panes of his vehicle.
In a video that went viral, the Actor reportedly said: “I’m not here to show off. It’s been two hours and the vehicles are blocked. What kind of dirty programme is this? This shows the condition of our state.”
Joju later told the media that he questioned the protest because it was causing trouble for the public. The Congress workers lost their temper and alleged that the actor misbehaved with them, including women protesters.
They also said that they would file a complaint with the police and alleged that Joju was drunk and broke the glass of his vehicle himself. Even Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president K Sudhakaran alleged that Joju was drunk.
The Congress has now dropped the fuel price issue and want action against Joju. K Sudhakaran hinted in a press meet that if the Kerala government didn’t take any action against Joju, the party will react.
Interestingly, the police confirmed that the Congress has not taken permission for staging the protest and road blockade.
