Ambikapur, April 24
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday lashed out at Congress for wealth redistribution and said the grand-old party was eyeing to snatch the money and jewelleries of the people.
The Congress party had advocated for inheritance tax and wealth redistribution as practiced in the United States. Congress think-tank Sam Pitroda backed 50 per cent inheritance tax in India and supported Congress’ stand on wealth redistribution. Sam Pitroda has said that in the United States, there is an inheritance tax according to which the US government is entitled to claim 55 per cent share of a person’s wealth while the owner can transfer only 45 per cent share to his children or family.
“The advisors of the Prince to the royal family had said some time ago that more taxes should be imposed on the middle class. Now, these people have gone one step further. Congress says that it will impose inheritance tax, it will also impose tax on the inheritance received from parents,” Modi slammed Congress while addressing a mammoth election rally in Ambikapur in support of BJP candidate from Sarguja Chintamani Maharaj.
Modi said: “As long as you are alive, Congress will hit you with high taxes and when you are no longer alive, it will burden you with inheritance tax.” Those people who considered the entire Congress Party as their ancestral property and gave it to their children, now do not want Indians to give their property to their children, he added.
Modi said the Congress had been supporting those who spread violence and was calling them martyrs. The biggest leader of the Congress sheds tears when terrorists are killed. “It was a humiliation of the brave-hearts who gave supreme sacrifice for the motherland,” he said, adding that due to such actions, Congress has lost the trust of the country.
The Prime Minister said Congress did not just want to take away the reservation, they have other plans too. The intentions of Congress are not good. Their intentions… are not in accordance with the Constitution, are not in accordance with social justice. If anyone can protect the reservation, it is only the BJP.
