Raipur, January 12
Come January second week, all eyes are set on Gandhi Udyan that fragrant with the flowers and turns into a floral heaven; courtesy country’s leading private sector steel maker—Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL).
However, people of the state will miss the flowers paradise organized in the heart of the Chhattisgarh capital. Much to the disappointment of people, the third wave of COVID-19 has impacted this year too. The exhibition, organized every year in the second week of January, was cancelled last year also; depriving the people to have the glimpses of beautiful tableaux of flowers.
The fresh wave of Corona has once again eclipsed the “Flower Show.” Renowned industrialist Naveen Jindal’s company Jindal Steel & Power has always been instrumental in this show. Every time more than a hundred species of flowers have been displayed by the company, people from all over the state have been coming to see the beautiful view.
Due to Corona, the people of the state have been deprived of watching this flower show for two years.
The cold weather in Chhattisgarh is quite tempting. A large number of tourists come here during this season and enjoy healthy weather. Resorts located in and around Raipur attract a large number of tourists. The flower show at Gandhi Udyan has also been attracting them in such weather. People from other districts of the state have also been coming to see this show.
The flower show has been the center of attraction for almost 10 years. About two to three months in advance, various institutions start their preparation and the entire Gandhi Garden becomes fragrant with flowers of different sizes and colors.
JSPL and the organizers said that by participating in the flower show, they have been giving the message of environmental awareness and cleanliness among the people.
Like last year, this time too, the show had to be canceled due to Corona, although the organizations had made full preparations for it. They said that today the biggest priority is to save people from Corona. They also called for wearing masks and following the COVID protocol diligently.
