The ‘Victory Flame’ of “Swarnim Vijay Varsh” was formally inducted at Chhattisgarh Odisha Sub Area (COSA) Headquarters of Indian Army to commemorate and celebrate the 50th anniversary of India’s glorious victory in the 1971 war in Bangladesh.
The victory flame was received by Lt Col Manoj Kumar Jha of COSA HQ with full military honours. It was brought in ceremoniously amidst an impressive ceremony to the state capital. The victory flame will be in Chhattisgarh till October 19.
The year 2021 marks the 50th anniversary of victory of the Indian Armed Forces in the 1971 war and the year is being observed as ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ in honour of the Indian Soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty. The heroic and courageous act of Indian Army not only split Pakistan into two pieces but also forced the historic surrender of a whopping 93,000 Pakistani soldiers.
The four victory flames were lit up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the National War Memorial, New Delhi on December 16, 2020. The four victory flames commenced their journey through the four cardinal directions travelling across the country through the villages of the soldiers who were a part of the 1971 war.
The Victory Flame will travel to various places in the city and thereafter will commence its onward journey. Besides the residence of 1971 war warriors, the victory flame reached the Raj Bhawan House where a small event was organised to mark the occasion. COSA also organised a bike rally with 71 participants to coincide the event.
Governor Anusuiya Uikey welcomed the victory flame and said the enthusiasm and zeal with which Indian Army jawans were celebrating the “Swarnim Vijay Varsh” and carrying the victory flame, it would set a precedent and model for the present and coming generations. The family members of the warriors were honoured on the occasion.
