Country’s first Christian court room opens at Raipur in Chhattisgarh

Country’s first Diocese Court and the new court room of Pastor Court were inaugurated by Bishop Dr Sushma Kumar and Secretary Nitin Lawrence and Treasurer Jaideep Robinson at Raipur in Chhattisgarh.

The ceremony was held at the World Environment Day—marking the day as historic for Chhattisgarh Diocese. The guests also inaugurated the AC Primary Wing of Salem School and the newly built Vishal Manch. The platform has been dedicated to Ahilya Devi Holkar.

According to Diocese officials, the court room can be used by the Diocese Court and the Pastor Court of Raipur. Bishop Dr Kumar and Secretary Lawrence and pastors, Principal Salem School Rupika Lawrence and principals, representatives of churches also planted hundreds of saplings in the premises.

Environmental Conservation Head Neelam Singh delivered a lecture on the topic. She informed the children, teachers and people of the society to avoid the use of plastic. She asked them to take a pledge to conserve water, save forests and plant trees.

On the occasion of inauguration of a new wing and huge stage of Salem School, Chhattisgarhi artists Appi Raja, Rakesh Sharma, Nisha Sharma, Abdul Razik also presented their programs. The event was organized by Chhattisgarh Diocese Board of Education. School children presented a Chhattisgarhi welcome dance.

On this occasion, Bishop Dr Sushma Kumar prayed for the peace of soul of CNI’s senior late pastor Paul Priyanath on his 35th death anniversary at Diocese Office and Pastor Asim Vikram prayed at Environment Day function in Salem School. Priests also remembered him.

Late pastor Nath, who was a lover of discipline, justice and environment, had served in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Pastor Court honored the Bishop, Secretary and Treasurer of the Diocese by giving them mementoes for their exemplary initiative.
