Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI), the apex body of real estate developers in India, has honoured Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for formulating real estate-friendly decisions that has given a boost to the sector in the state.

The CREDAI Chhattisgarh on Monday organised STATCON-2023, an event on the theme of ‘growing Chhattisgarh’, in Nava. Baghel was felicitated for the decisions taken by the state government to get the real estate sector out of recession and to facilitate people to purchase houses and plots.

In his address, Baghel said that the Chhattisgarh government had taken practical decisions continuously for the benefit of the people by being alert. “The state government has put one lakh 60 thousand crore rupees in the pockets of the people of the state through various schemes,” he said, adding that with the money in the hands of the people, there has been a boom in every sector in the state.

After the COVID-induced lock-down, Chhattisgarh was the first to resume work in industries and factories in the entire country. He said funds were made available to farmers through the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana and laborers through MGNREGA even in the midst of difficult circumstances during the Corona period. Unlike other states, there was no cut in the salary of government officials and employees, they got full salaries. In this way, as people of every class had money, there was an increase in business and trade in every sector.

The real estate sector also got its benefits. Baghel said that the reduction in the guideline rates of land by 30 percent has accelerated the buying and selling of plots. Due to more registries, the revenue of the government increased. Removal of restriction from registry of small plots and reduction in guideline rates increased the revenue from it from Rs 1100 crore to Rs 1500 crore. He said that real estate has been a major part of India’s economy. There was a slowdown in this sector due to demonetisation, COVID pandemic and lock-down.

The Government of Chhattisgarh took favorable decisions to bring the sector out of recession and provide relief to the people. Soon the real estate sector started galloping leaving the recession behind. He said that the work of Aero City and Whole-Cell Corridor will start soon in Raipur, which will strengthen the trade and business here. In the program, on the demand of CREDAI, the Chief Minister talked about the requirement of colonizer license to be tested after the implementation of RERA Acts in the state. He also talked about preparing guidelines for real estate for rural areas like urban areas.

Chhattisgarh Housing and Environment Minister Mohammad Akbar also spoke on the occasion.

CREDAI’s National President Manoj Gaur expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel for the decisions favorable to the real estate sector. He said that the single window clearance system started in the state for the colonizers and developers has speeded up the proceedings related to it and the work has started getting done smoothly.
