The leaders criticising the policies of the organisation and the government failed to find place in the new executive committee announced by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today.
Apart from its top brass that includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah, the 80-membered committee will also have party veterans L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi as its members.
Sending a tough disciplinary message, the organisation has axed the leaders who have been critical of the party and Narendra Modi government’s policy. The leaders pointed out have been expressing their views in the public forum and social media platforms.
Three prominent leaders that included Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy, MP Varun Gandhi and former Union Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh have been dropped. While the former had been criticising the government economic policies, the of whom have been critical of the contentious farm laws. Gandhi has also castigated the Lakhimpur Kheri incident against the party line just a day ago.
Besides 80 regular members, the executive will also have 50 special invitees and 179 permanent invitees. However, of the regular members, 37 are Union Ministers besides ministers from the state providing less room for the common party members to get prominent party positions. The newly appointed Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishaw and Jyotiraditya Scindia were the fresh induction in the team.
The new committee does not focus on the ensuing assembly elections in the crucial state of Uttar Pradesh as heavyweights like Sidharth Nath Singh, former MP Vinay Katiyar and party MP Rajveer Singh, son of late veteran Kalyan Singh, were not included in the list.
BJP MLA in Uttar Pradesh assembly Rajesh Agarwal is the treasurer and member of Parliament from Madhya Pradesh Sudhir Gupta is the national joint treasurer.
