Coal India Limited, the single largest coal producer in the world, organized a CSR & Sustainability Conclave 2022 ( 6th to 7th May, 2022) at Central Coalfields Ltd(CCL), Darbhanga House, Ranchi.
About 150 participants, from Coal India and all its subsidiaries including CCL attended the two-day conclave.
The “CSR & Sustainability Conclave 2022” provides a platform for Corporates, Development Sector Organizations and Thought Leaders to come together for knowledge sharing and listening the success stories.
The program started with lightening of ceremonial lamp. Guests of Honour, CMD, CCL P M Prasad CMD and Director (Personnel & IR), CIL Vinay Ranjan inaugurated the CSR & Sustainability Conclave 2022 in packed Convention Center of the company.
While addressing the welcome address, CMD CCL P M Prasad welcomed the participants and other dignitaries. He further said that presently, corporates need to focus equally on Operational, Environmental and Social sustainability for carrying out their sustainable business. Prasad also deliberated the diversified CSR activities of the company.
Director(P&IR), CIL Vinay Ranjan welcomed the eminent speakers and expressed confidence that the conclave will be a great learning experience for the delegates. He further said that the company is planning to carry out skill development for 10,000 persons including women. He also said that the company will carry out livelihood programme to benefit the society.
Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, Retd. IAS, who is widely acknowledged as the primary force for bringing a new paradigm to the realm of CSR and providing it with an innovative and strategic vision talked about genesis and existing policy. He spoke about the evolution of CSR and explained the various rules and regulations related to CSR.
Another speaker was Amod Kanth, Retd. IPS, CEO ‘Prayas,’ a former IPS officer, said that the we need to connect with natural leaders for carrying out sustainable business.
Saurav Roy, Chief (CSR), Tata Steel Ltd spoke about various CSR initiatives of Tata Steel Limited like Masti Ki Pathshala, Samvaad etc.
Joining the list of Erudite speakers N Srinath, CEO Tata Trusts gave details about the various initiatives of Tata Trusts like Lakhpati Kisan Program, etc. He mentioned that the primary focus of the CSR projects is to create a sustainable model.
Shubhranshu Patnaik, Partner with Deloitte, dealt on the topic of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG).
The final speaker of the day was Dr Arvind (Director), Arvind Eye Care projects briefed about the history and the operations of Arvind Eye Care. He added that daily they are treating about 1600-1700 patients.
P M Prasad and Vinay Ranjan also inaugurated CSR stall of Coal India and all its subsidiaries including CCL.
