In a shocking incident, six minor girls consumed an agricultural fumigant at a village in Aurangabad district, 200 kms south east from here on Friday evening.
Three of them died and three others are admitted in Magadh Medical College Hospital at Gaya.
Aurangabad district SP Kantesh Kumar Mishra said preliminary investigations suggest the minor girls from Chirala village under Kutumba police station had consumed Sulphas in a ” suicidal agreement” over failure of a 14 years old girl in persuading Bittu Kumar of neighborhood Guruwa to marry her.
Bittu, according to Anuj Singh, mukhiya (village panchayat head) of Baghoura, was brother of her sister’s husband.
The minor girls went to Guruwa last evening reportedly as a last attempt to persuade Bittu, but they failed as boy refused to accept her proposal.
After returning from Guruwa, they took the agricultural fumigant, Sulphas from a farm, went to the neighborhood field and simultaneously consumed poison.
According to the statement of 14 years old Barsha Kumari, who is admitted in the hospital, they took pledge (kashme wada) simultaneously to sympathise with their village friend over her failure in love and resolved to ” end their lives “.
Refiganj circle inspector MK Chaudhary said though none came to register FIR, police have started investigations and none could be arrested.
