Delegation of Jagdalpur Municipal Corporation expressed gratitude to CM for approval of barrage on Indravati River

A delegation from the Jagdalpur Municipal Corporation, led by Mayor Mr Sanjay Pandey, paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at his office in Vidhan Sabha Bhavan today.

During the meeting, the delegation presented a bouquet to CM and conveyed their gratitude for granting approval for the construction of a new barrage on the Indravati River. They informed him that the proposed barrage would significantly improve the supply of drinking water in Jagdalpur city and help ensure smoother and more reliable water distribution to residents.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Sai said that the State Government is continuously working towards the holistic development of the Bastar region. He said that several important irrigation projects have been approved for the area.  CM Sai remarked that Naxalism in the region is now in its final phase and peace is gradually being restored, which is helping accelerate development works. He added that the government is making sustained efforts to expand the irrigated area in the state. In this direction, the Matnar and Deurgaon irrigation projects have also been approved. Chief Minister further stated that the government is working on plans to provide irrigation facilities through pipeline systems in order to minimise water wastage and ensure more efficient delivery of water to farmers.

It may be noted that the State Budget has announced the construction of a barrage at Mahadev Ghat on the Indravati River at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 100 crore. The project is expected to provide significant relief to Jagdalpur city in addressing its drinking water requirements.

The delegation included Municipal Corporation Chairman Khem Singh Devangan, Nirmal Panigrahi, Suresh Gupta, Yogendra Pandey, Rana Ghosh and other members.
