Raipur, April 17
In a bizarre order, the Raipur branch of prestigious Delhi Public School (DPS) had denied entry to the students from the main entrance if they were availing personal vehicles.
Instead, a narrow gate on the backside of the school had been opened from where the students studying between 1 and 5th class would be dropped and picked. The kaccha road built by the forest department had been leading the parents to the back gate.
Fighting dust and negotiating the bumpy ride, the parents are following the order of the DPS Raipur, a franchise institution of the DPS society. According to the parents, the school management took an arbitrarily one-sided decision and prohibited the children coming to school in private vehicles from entering the main gate of the school.
The parents drew the attention of the school management and wrote a letter. But the efforts went in vain as the management did not take a call.
The News Riveting could not contact the DPS Raipur management to know its stand on the issue.
In the letter addressed to the Principal, the parents have underlined how the new system had been severely affecting the health of children and their parents. The heavy dust on the road had posed a challenge of bronchitis diseases with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
There is no shed or even tree cover for the parents, especially those coming by two-wheelers, to take shelter from scorching heat or heavy showers.
The parents said they had made the plea to the school administration on a number of occasions but they refused. The Raipur DPS is the only institution that has introduced the system. Even the other DPS across the state of Chhattisgarh did not follow such a system, the parents said, adding that they would now urge the state government to intervene.
