DMK seems to be desperate in continuing with its move to hit the opponent below the belt as it Member of Parliament and former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran passed on “unparliamentary comment” against late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a fresh incident, Maran said: “Our Amma is Mummy for us, Modi is Daddy for us. See what kind of relationship…” He made the “filthy comments” referring to the speech made two years back by AIADMK Minister K T Rajenthra Bhalaji, who, for “rhyming purpose”, had said: “Modi is our Daddy”.
Recently, another DMK MP and former Minister A Raja had flared up a row by allegedly insulting Chief Minister K Palaniswami’s late mother. This had evoked an emotional response from Palaniswami.
AIADMK, the ruling party in Tamil Nadu, on Wednesday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India against DMK Member of Parliament and former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran over his “unparliamentary words” against late Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In the complaint, AIADMK’s Joint Secretary R M Babu Murugavel said Maran had violated the model code of conducts effective for the ensuing state elections with his “filthy, unparliamentary words tarnishing and maligning the image of Jayalalithaa and Modi” at an election rally on March 28 in Kinathukadavu constituency.
Alleging that Maran’s sole intention was to defame Jayalalithaa and Modi, the AIADMK demanded the poll to register a criminal case against Maran and ban him from election campaigning.
