A chimney at an under-construction pipe factory in Chhattisgarh’s Mungeli district crashed down trapping over two dozen workers on Thursday afternoon.
A heavy casualty is feared even as authorities have launched a rescue operation. The incident took place in Kusum Plant located at Saragaon in Mungeli district—about 150 km from the Chhattisgarh capital.
Sources said the construction work was going on in the factory when a chimney came crashing down, trapping over two dozen workers. The factory will be manufacturing pipes.
The rescue operation was launched but the team was finding it challenging to remove the debris to evacuate the trapped persons.
Unconfirmed reports said that over a dozen persons had been killed in the incident.
