Dr Mohan Yadav on Wednesday took oath as the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh at a glittering function held at Motilal Stadium in Bhopal.
Governor Mangu Bhai Patel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Dr Mohan Yadav as the 20th Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. The two Deputy Chief Ministers Jagdish Deora and Rajendra Shukla also took oath at the function that was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda.
Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Jyotiraditya Scindia, former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Assembly Speaker and former Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, State President VD Sharma, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Assam Chief Minister Hemanta Biswa Sharma, representatives from the Sant community and a large number of people participated in the event.
Dr Mohan was on Monday elected as the leader of Madhya Pradesh BJP Legislature Party. Born on March 25, 1965, Yadav graduated from Ujjain University with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree. He further pursued his academic interests and completed LLB, Master of Arts (MA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), and Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) degrees from the same university.
He is married to Seema Yadav, and together they are proud parents of three children- one daughter and two sons.
His political career started with students’ politics and he was active member of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. In 2013, he entered electoral politics and contested for the Ujjain South constituency. He trounced Congress candidate Jaysingh Darbar by 9,652 votes. He was re-elected in the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections, taking the seat of MLA for Ujjain South. He won by 18,960 votes over Congress candidate Rajendra Vashishtha Raju Bhaiya. Yadav retained the seat in 2023.
In 2020, he was sworn in as a cabinet member of the Madhya Pradesh government under the former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He was MP’s Minister of Education till 2023.
