Dr Purnendu Saxena elected as Chhattisgarh RSS Chief for second consecutive term

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Chhattisgarh Prant has unanimously elected state’s renowned Orthopedician and Traumatologist Dr Purnendu Saxena as Prant Sanghchalak for second consecutive term.

Dr Saxena, 57, was elected unanimously in the election process that was completed in presence of Zila and Vibhag representatives across the state. The Sangh officials from centre, regional and state were also present.

RSS is one of the largest organisations in the world and it functions in a democratic way. After the foundation of RSS in 1925, the organisation was functioning smoothly without any constitution. However, in 1950 on the demand of the government of India, a 16-page constitution of RSS was made. As per the constitution, elections in RSS shall be conducted after every three years.

Subsequently, the election was held in Chhattisgarh on Sunday.

Dr Saxena’s association with the RSS dates back from his childhood. Having completed his school and medical education in Raipur, he took up a job in the UK, first in Newcastle region and then in Royal Liverpool university region.

After a stint of 8 years, Dr Saxena decided to render his service in his motherland and returned to India in 2004 and worked in Apollo Hospital, Bilaspur.

One of the Directors of Raipur-based VY Hospital, Dr Saxena has specialised in fractures, dislocations, revision joint replacement hip, knee and shoulder surgery besides other medical services related to Orthopedic.

Dr Toplal Verma, a renowned professor in a government college, has been elected unopposed as the Sah Prant Sanghchalak.
