The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of 2016 batch, Dr Ravi Mittal has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Chhattisgarh Public Relations.

He succeeds Mayank Srivastava, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of 2006 batch. He has returned to his parent department of home in the Chhattisgarh government.

Dr Mittal, currently posted as the District Collector of Jashpur, has an academic background in medicine having graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Maulana Azad Medical College New Delhi. Besides he earned an MA in Public Management from Jawaharlal Nehru University Delhi.

Besides Commissioner Public Relations, Dr Mittal will also hold the charge of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Chhattisgarh Samvad.

Dr Mittal was among the 10 IAS officers transferred from their present posting in an administrative reshuffle executed by the state government Tuesday evening. Three District Collectors have been affected in the development.

The 2017-batch IAS officer, Rohit Vyas will succeed Dr Mittal as District Collector of Jashpur. Vyas was District Collector of Surajpur. S Jayavardhan, an IAS officer of 2014 and District Collector of Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki will replace Vyas in Surajpur.

The 2016-batch IAS officer, Tulika Prajapati will be the new District Collector of Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki.
