The Enforcement Directorate (ED) today conducted raids on jewellers and cloth merchants in three different districts in Chhattisgarh.
The officials, who came from New Delhi and Nagpur, conducted the raids in Raipur, Rajnandgaon and Durg districts. The ED teams are being escorted by the jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The jewellers and cloths merchants under the scanner of the investigating agency are renowned name in the business fraternity of Chhattisgarh. The groups had been involved in big transactions. Besides the businessmen, a leading Chartered Accountant had also come under the ED lenses.
Though the ED officials had not come out with any official statement, sources said the raid had been conducted at the residence and premises of a well-known CA in Durg district.
Sources said the alleged Hawala links of the business groups could be one of the reasons for the multiple raids.
