The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for further questioning on the three consecutive day on Wednesday in connection with the National Herald case.
The former Congress President had appeared before the economic intelligence agency on Monday and Tuesday to respond to the queries related to alleged money laundering case and financial irregularities in the party-promoted Young Indian that owns the National Herald newspaper.
The National Herald is published by the Associated Journals Limited (AJL) and owned by Young Indian Pvt Limited.
Like Monday, the Congress leader was questioned by the federal agency till late in the evening. He was given a lunch break after three hours, and went to meet his mother, and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who is undergoing treatment at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Sonia Gandhi has also been summoned in the case by the ED.
On Tuesday, ED interrogated Rahul Gandhi for about four hours after he turned up at its office at around 11 am. A three-member team quizzing the Congress leader had asked him to appear again on Wednesday. The ED officials are trying to clarify about a few transactions made by a Kolkata-based business group.
So far, ED had questioned Rahul Gandhi for nearly 18 hours.
