Marking the occasion with solemnity and warmth, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday attended the two-day 80th Mahaadhiveshan- annual session of the Chhattisgarh Manwa Kurmi Kshatriya Samaj at village Champa in Baloda Bazar district.

He began by observing a two-minute silence on the death anniversary of freedom fighter and social reformer Dr. Khubchand Baghel and paid floral tributes to noted community figures. The Chief Minister was warmly received with a traditional garland.

Chief Minister Sai praised the Manwa Kurmi community as hardworking, well-organised, and progressive in agriculture, highlighting its significant contribution to the state’s development. He said the 80th Mahaadhiveshan fosters unity, coordination, and positive decision-making for the benefit of the state and nation, and expressed his good fortune at attending the event in Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma’s native village.

Sai emphasized that education is the key to an empowered and self-reliant society, praising the community for ensuring children are connected to learning. He also lauded its initiatives supporting women’s self-employment, spreading awareness against substance abuse among youth, and promoting social reform.

He said the state government is fully committed to fulfilling the guarantees of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He said that around 18 lakh Pradhan Mantri Awas houses have been completed additionally this year, more than 141 lakh metric tonnes of paddy were procured from 25.24 lakh farmers at support price, with nearly Rs 10,000 crore to be paid as differential amount before Holi. Under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, more than Rs 15,000 crore has been disbursed so far to 70 lakh women.

Sai said Bastar is witnessing a visible transformation in development. Reaffirming the resolve of the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister, he stated that the government is determined to eradicate Naxalism completely by March 2026. He added that under the Niyad Nellanar Yojana, development activities have gained momentum in nearly 400 villages.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced Rs 50 lakh for the construction of a community building in village Nardaha and Rs 25 lakh for a community building in Baloda Bazar.

Addressing the gathering, Revenue Minister Tank Ram Verma said, “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, remarkable development has taken place in the state over the past two years, and several welfare schemes for farmers, women, and youth have been effectively implemented.” 

At the convention, the community’s Central President Khodas Ram Verma shared information about important social reform decisions taken by the organisation. Rajim MLA Shri Rohit Sahu, along with a large number of community office-bearers, women, youth, and members of the community, were present at the programme.
