Raipur, November 29
Chhattisgarh is known as the rice bowl and its true identity is soil, hard work and farmer’s loyalty.
For years, weighing, token, payment and administrative problems were the most difficult times for farmers while selling paddy. But this year, the picture has changed. From the fields to the harvesting center, the farmer is returning with respect and not just a harvest.
For the first time, the procurement campaign has taken the shape of Kisan Samman Abhiyaan. The confidence and relief on the face of the farmers is not just the happiness of the produce but the result of the government’s honest policies, transparent system and sensitive leadership.
In the current procurement year, the biggest historic decision was taken on support price and procurement limit. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the government has decided to purchase 21 quintals of paddy per acre and the support price has been fixed at Rs 3100 rupees per quintal, which is proving to be the most profitable model for the farmers so far.
By paying directly into bank accounts, credibility has increased, transactions have become transparent, the market and rural economy have boomed and a strong foundation has been laid for economic stability in the lives of farmers. The purchase is not only a financial security for the farmers but also a victory for dignity and respect after years of waiting and struggle.
A strong model of governance – transparency, accountability and farmer-centric system
This time there is no crowd, no disorder, no complaint of favoritism and no pressure of any kind at the collection centers of the district. Timed token distribution, transparency in moisture testing, accuracy of weighing, notification through SMS, zero delay in payment and quick settlement make the current season a historic one. The faith of the farmers can now be felt. The bond of trust between administration, committee and farmer has never been so strong. The figure is not just a quantity but a strong proof of the administration’s preparedness, policy transparency and farmers’ confidence.

Historical efficiency of procurement system – example of advance preparation, coordination and modern management
In previous years, shortage of cargo, delay in transportation, warehouse capacity, labor availability and line management were major problems during procurement. This year the administration came up with a strategy from the first day. Adequate cargo was available at all procurement centres, the capacity and number of weighing machines were increased, transport and picking contracts were entered into ahead of time, warehousing arrangements were strengthened and committees were empowered for efficiency. Digital monitoring and daily review system made the entire system timely, accountable and efficient. For the farmers, the purchase was no less than a festive experience.
Kisan ki Muskaan ki jeet – A new era of trust, dignity and financial security
The change experienced by the farmers is the real achievement of this procurement system. According to farmers this year the weighing machines are working faster, there is no unnecessary waiting due to the token and slot system, drinking water, seating facility and medical assistance are available. The elements of safety, discipline and respect are evident in the acquisition centers. For farming families, procurement brings not only financial benefits but also social prestige and future security. Every process from the farm to the bank account is being conducted under real-time digital monitoring, thereby eliminating the possibility of fraud and deduction. The farmers made it clear that for the first time they felt that the government was standing with them.
A clear message from the Chief Minister – Farmer’s smile is the success of the government
At the core of this procurement model is not just the administrative system but strong political will. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai had given clear instructions that no farm family should face any problem in procurement, there would be no delay in payment and transparency would be top priority. This is the reason why the financial management, storage, transportation, daily review and zero tolerance policy have made paddy procurement a precedent at the national level.
Chhattisgarh has proved that when policies are honest, they not only buy crops but also the respect of the Annadata. The new system will further strengthen the agricultural economy in the years to come and make India’s farmers not just a producer but a major contributor to the country’s economic progress.
