New Delhi, March 2
The farmers would block the Kundli–Manesar–Palwal (KMP) Expressway on March 6 as part of their on-going stir against the three contentious agriculture laws.
Samyukta Kisan Morcha today announced the decision taken at a meeting held today. The farmers camping at three Delhi border points have been instructed to block the KMP Expressway from 11 am to 5 pm on Saturday, said Balbir Singh Rajewal.
“In today’s meeting of Samyukt Kisan Morcha, we have finalised the programmes till March 15. On March 6 when the protest enters Day 100, farmers will block Kundli–Manesar–Palwal Expressway at different points between 11 am and 4 pm,” Yogendra Yadav, Swaraj India said.
“In a meeting with 10 major trade unions, it was decided in-principle that farmers & labourers will fight this battle together. On March 15, labourers & employees will take to streets across the country against privatisation &corporatization. Farmers will join them,” he said further.
The 136-km Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway or the western peripheral expressway was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018.
Thousands of farmers, mostly from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, have been camping at the Delhi border points — Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur — demanding a complete revocation of three farm laws enacted in September last year.
Meanwhile, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha said that a joint programme of action is being worked out by it along with many central trade unions which have expressed their support and solidarity for the ongoing farmers’ movement.
