The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council facilitated Chhattisgarh chapter of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FICCI) for its support in the record collection of tax.
Chairman of Chhattisgarh chapter of FICCI Pradeep Tandon said that due to the outbreak of the global pandemic COVID-19, the business and industrial establishment were closed for a long time. Despite this, the industries of Chhattisgarh have set a new record in the payment of Goods and Services Tax (GST). The leading body of Indian industry and commerce acted as a bridge between the facility and the government.
The GST Council acknowledged the initiative as Principal Commissioner of CGST B B Mohapatra honored FICCI.
“We are grateful to the department for its friendly behavior with the industries,” Tandon said, adding that the industry of Chhattisgarh, dedicated to nation building, showed patience even in the second wave of COVID-19 and left no stone unturned in providing goods and services to the people.
The GST collection has also surged during April to July of the current financial year compared to corresponding period of last fiscal. In the first four months of the current fiscal, the GST was pegged at Rs 3848 crore as against Rs 3103 crore and Rs 2554 crore collected during the corresponding period of 2019-20 and 2020-21 respectively, which was outstanding. Congratulating the industry on the remarkable increase of 50.69 per cent in the payment of GST, Tandon said that FICCI played an important role by facilitating e-way bills and other modes of tax payment. The FICCI Chief for Chhattisgarh expressed his gratitude to Mohapatra and his entire team with a hope that the coordination between the Council and the Corporate would continue and encourage the industry to contribute more for Nation building.
