Solapur, November 24
An Assistant Police Inspector (ASI) of Maharashtra police has never anticipated that fining stalwart Asaduddin Owaisi’s vehicle can make him eligible for a big reward.
Police collected a fine of Rs 200 from the driver of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi who was driving a SUV without a number plate. The AIMIM chief was on board the vehicle as he came from Hyderabad to Solapur in connection with a party event.
The AIMIM is eyeing to contest the local civic body election and the visit of Owaisi has been in connection with the preparedness of the party. Owaisi in his SUV that was without number plate reached the Sadar Bazar guest house and went to take rest.
The assistant police inspector, Ramesh Chintankidi, who was on duty, noticed that the leader’s car did not have a number plate on its front side. Chintankidi then asked Owaisi’s driver to pay fine for the violation of motor vehicle act.
As a few supporters of the AIMIM gathered outside the guest house, tension prevailed for a while. Senior police officials also reached the spot and handled the situation.
The Traffic police collected Rs 200 fine from the driver of the vehicle. Later, the Solapur Police Commissioner, Harish Baijal then honoured API Chintankidi by giving a cash reward of Rs 5,000 for his action.
The matter is talk of the town as many experts fail to guess why the ASI has been rewarded as he performed his routine duties!
