Godawari Power and Ispat to expand capacity at Ari Dongri to 6 MTPA

Godawari Power and Ispat Limited (GPIL), a flagship arm of Chhattisgarh-based Hira Group, would enhance the capacity of its iron ore mine located in Kanker district of the state.

The public hearing to seek green clearances will be held on November 13, 2025, the company said in a regulatory filing on Friday.

“We are pleased to inform you that a public hearing has been scheduled to be held on 13.11.2025 for the purpose of environment clearance/approval of proposed expansion of iron ore mining capacity of Ari Dongri Iron Ore Mines situated at Village Kachche, Dist: Uttar Baster, Kanker, Chhattisgarh from existing 2.35 MTPA to 6 MTPA with increase in mining lease area from 138.96 Ha to 213.01 Ha,” GPIL said.

The company had enhanced the capacity of Kachche Ari Dongri mine from 1.405 million tonne per annum (MTPA) to 2.35 MTPA within the existing mining lease area of 138.96 hectares in August 2021.

Godawari Power & Ispat Ltd. (GPIL) a public Ltd. Co., formally Ispat Godawari Ltd (IGL), was incorporated in 1999 to set up an integrated steel plant with captive power generation, which is an integrated steel manufacturer and is having dominant presence in the long product segment of the Steel industry, mainly into mild steel wire. Today, GPIL is an end-to-end manufacturer of mild steel wires.

In the process, the company manufactures sponge iron, billets, Ferro alloys, captive power, wires rods (through subsidiary company), steel wires, Oxygen gas, fly ash brick and last but not the least pallets. GPIL is also awarded rights for Iron Ore and Coal Mining for captive consumption, as a result of which, the company has managed to traverse the entire value chain (raw material to final product) in steel wires and is now a fully integrated manufacturer.
